Lima, Feb. 07 (ANDINA).- Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde said that Peru will not comment on the content of Chile’s counter-memorial until its official presentation at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, which should be done no later than March 9, 2010.
Minister Garcia Belaunde said that once Chile submits its counter-memorial, he will meet with representatives of Peru's defense team to review the content of the Chilean document.
"On March 9, at the latest, Chile will file its counter-memorial and only then the Peruvian side will meet with lawyers and legal experts to discuss the document," he said.
Garcia Belaunde made these statements after presiding over a special meeting of the Andean Council of Foreign Ministers which was held on Friday in Lima.
The foreign minister explained that following the filing of the counter-memorial by Chile, the Peruvian team -led by Ambassador Allan Wagner- will review the document in order to prepare its reply.
