During his visit to Ecuador, President Garcia will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde.

At 10:00 am, the Peruvian leader will take part in the meeting of Unasur heads of state to be held in the Carondelet Palace, headquarters of the Ecuadorian government.

The meeting was called by the current head of UNASUR's rotating presidency, Ecuador's Rafael Correa, who visited Port-au-Prince in late January to deliver humanitarian aid and meet with President René Preval.

Ecuador has hailed the upcoming Union of the South American Nations (Unasur) Extraordinary Summit as "an important milestone" for the union to aid quake-torn Haiti.

Garcia Perez will return to Lima in the afternoon to preside over the launching ceremony of 2010 Europan Project. The event will be held at 17:00 at the Government Palace in Lima.
